The Karachaganak Effect refers to the anomalous behavior observed in some hydrocarbon liquids where their densities increase with temperature instead of decreasing, which is the usual trend for most substances. This effect was first noted in the hydrocarbons from the Karachaganak oil field in Kazakhstan.
