An allograft is a transplantation of tissue or an organ between individuals of the same species, but from different genetically distinct individuals (allogenic). Allografts are used in medicine to replace damaged or diseased tissues and organs. They can be classified as either living (such as skin grafts) or cadaveric (such as heart transplants).
