Evaluate the changing notions of history. Do you agree with the view that the early Indians had no notion of history?
Answer Posted / Sanjeev Singh Tomar
The concept of 'history' as we understand it today, involving systematic recording and analysis, developed over time. Early Indian societies did have traditions of oral storytelling, mythology, and chronicles, albeit not in the same format as written histories. It can be argued that these represent an early form of historical narrative.
