Explain about the main features of Athenian democracy?

Answer Posted / Jai Prakash Bhardwaj

Athenian democracy, established in ancient Greece around 507 BCE, was one of the earliest known democracies. It featured several key elements: 'Isoteia' (freedom of speech), 'Enktesis' (the right to stand for public office), 'Demos Kratos' (power in the hands of the people), 'Euthyneia' (equality before law), and 'Parityaxis' (equitable distribution of land). All adult male citizens were eligible to vote, participate in political debates, and hold public offices. Slaves and women were excluded.
