Evaluate the developments in the field of religion during 1000 B.C.-600 B.C.

Answer Posted / Dagendra Kant Singh

During this period, significant religious and philosophical developments took place in various regions, including India, Greece, China, and the Middle East. In India, the Vedic period saw the emergence of Hinduism with its four primary texts – the Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvaveda. The Upanishads, a collection of philosophical texts, also emerged during this time. In Greece, Orphism and Pythagoreanism developed, emphasizing reincarnation, ethics, and the pursuit of wisdom. Confucianism, Taoism, and Legalism emerged in China as part of the Hundred Schools of Thought. In the Middle East, Zoroastrianism was founded by Prophet Zarathustra (around 600 BCE), which emphasized the struggle between good (Ahura Mazda) and evil (Angra Mainyu). These religious and philosophical developments laid the foundation for future religious thought and practice in these regions.
