The Earth does not actually have a charge. According to Gauss's law, the Earth acts as an infinite spherical conductor and distributes charges evenly over its surface. The surface of the Earth has an excess of free electrons, which give it an effective negative charge compared to other objects. However, this charge is not measurable due to the large amount of charged particles in the atmosphere.
