1. Link Establishment:n a. CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) exchange to verify compatibility.n b. LCP (Link Control Protocol) connection to negotiate parameters such as compression, encrypting, and error detection.n
2. Authentication:n a. PAP (Password Authentication Protocol) or CHAP (Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol) for user verification.n
3. Network-Layer Protocol Configuration:n a. IPCP configures IP addresses.n b. NCP (Network Control Protocol) configures other network layer protocols such as IPX or AppleTalk.n
4. Data Transmission: After successful link establishment, data can be transmitted between the two devices.
