What is the difference between 8085 microprocessor and 8086 microprocessor?

Answer Posted / Prashant Kumar Srivastava

The 8085 and 8086 microprocessors are both part of the Intel 808x series but have several differences. The 8086 is an enhanced version of the 8085 with additional instructions, address lines (24 instead of 16), and data bus width (16 bits instead of 8 bits). This makes the 8086 more powerful and capable of handling larger memory addresses and data. The 8086 also introduced the concept of real-mode and protected-mode operation, which is a key feature in modern Intel microprocessors.
