Heterochromatin and euchromatin are two types of chromatin that differ in their structure, accessibility, and function. Heterochromatin is highly condensed and contains tightly packed DNA, which makes it less accessible for transcription and replication. It is often found near the centromere in a chromosome. Euchromatin, on the other hand, is less dense and more loosely packed, allowing for active transcription and replication. It makes up the majority of interphase chromatin.
