when we talk about change in entropy we consider total entropy means of surround +entropy of system but when we talk about change in Gibss free energy we consider entropy of system.explain with reason.

Answer Posted / Nitish Kumar Gupta

The total entropy (S_total) in a thermodynamic process refers to the sum of the entropy of the system (S_system) and the entropy of the surroundings (S_surroundings). The change in total entropy (Delta S_total) is calculated as the sum of changes in entropy of the system and surroundings. In contrast, when discussing change in Gibbs free energy (?G), we only consider the entropy of the system because ?G = ?H - T?S, where ?H is the change in enthalpy, T is temperature, and ?S is the change in entropy of the system. The reason is that the entropy of the surroundings typically increases to compensate for any decrease in entropy within the system, which cancels out when calculating Gibbs free energy.
