What is tartar?

Answer Posted / Satendra Pal Singh Chauhan

Tartar, also known as calculus, is hardened plaque that has minerals from saliva deposited on the tooth surface. It forms in hard-to-reach areas like the back of the teeth and along the gum line. Tartar can contribute to gum disease and cavities if not removed by a dental professional.
