Organic manure and NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium) fertilizers have different effects on Amaranthus species (Amaranthus spp.). Organic manure improves soil structure, promotes beneficial microbial activity, and releases nutrients slowly over time. It can enhance the overall health of the plant and increase its resistance to diseases. On the other hand, NPK fertilizers provide immediate nutrients in quantities that are not found in organic manure, promoting rapid growth, but can lead to an imbalance in soil chemistry if not properly managed. In a study, it was observed that while both organic manure and NPK fertilizers improved crop yield, the use of organic manure resulted in higher quality Amaranthus seeds.
