It consists of two similar thermometers which are mounted on a metallic frame. One of them is provided with a muslin wrapping around its bulb. The bulb is kept damp by dipping of muslin into water. Cooling is caused by evaporation of wet bulb and this causes lower temperature of wet bulb. The dew-point can be calculated by Glaisher’s formula
