It cost a college Rs.0.70 a copy to produce a Programme for
the homecoming football game. If Rs.15,000/- was received
for advertisements in the programme, how many copies at
Rs.0.50 a copy must be sold to make a profit of Rs.8000/- ?
Answer Posted / subhankar bhattacharjee
let 'x' be the number of copies.
cost price of each copy-(0.70*x-15000).....as 15000 they get for advertisement(assume as a donation)
selling price of each copy-0.50*x
so, we know profit-selling price- cost price
8000=0.50x-(0.70*x-15000) and the value of x is 35000
