why acetone is highly soluble in water but acetophenol is not
Answer Posted / pradeep dubey
Acetone is an extremely polar molecule and has a dielectric constant of 77, (water is 80), and hence is capable of forming H bonding with water.
On the other hand benzophenone, has a very low polarity and also does not form 'H' bonds and hence is insoluble in water.
