Current calculation for 200 kvar capacitor
CAPACITOR VOLTAGE CALCULATION
#System Voltage (MV) : 433V (WITH +- 5%)
#Voltage drop across (Maximum) : 433 x -5% = 21.65V
Capacitors working : 411.35 Volts.
CAPACITOR CURRENT CALCULATION
KVAR Calculation at 433 Volts.
KVAR 433 Volt (433)2
= ------------ 200KVAR
(411.35)2

= ----------- 200 KVAR
169208
= 1.1 x 200 KVAR = 221.59
= 221.59 KVAR
Current for 221.56 KVAR at 433 V = 221.59
------------------------ x 1000
433 x 1.732 x 0.6
= 492 Amps.

We have a couple of oil tanks at our plant. One of them does not have a lightning arrester installed. My question is it necessary to install an arrestor on every tank or will this particular one be covered by the arrestor installed on the ajdacent tank, Since all the tanks are close to each other.
