Optical rotation the rotation that occurs when polarized light (light where waves are only moving a single plane) when it passes though a substance.
Specific rotation is the angle or the optical rotation that occurs for a specific substance (solution, crystal etc.) when light passes thought it for 1 decimetre (0.1 metres)
