why we set -10 volt in vibration sensor output,why not +10 volt

Vibration Sensor are NPN transistor so they can give negative voltage only so they are set -10 v only.its because transistor works linear in -2 to -18v so -2 to-10 8 volts same in -10 to -18 so it can measure both away and near distnce.
