what is the differnce between SCR and diode rectifier?

Silicon controlled rectifier is a 4 layer with 3 terminal
and 3 layer device which can sub stand at high power and cab
be controlled though it's gate pulse so it is a controllable
device while in case of diode it allow the flow of current
after it's threshold voltage and has no controlled over it
by any means !!
