Why the generator rating in kva
Answer Posted / baskar
Generator is the equipment where the voltage & current starts their journey SIMULTANEOUSLY. Hence no question of Power Factor coming in. Hence it is termed in KVA(V*I)
But Motor is the destination any power generated , after completing its journey thru an Impedance path , where the "Sync" between Voltage & Current is lost due to line impedance.
Hence the factor Power factor arises , due to displaced Voltage& current .Hence it is termed in KW (V*I*Cos phi)
