What are the difference between off-load tap changer and
on-load tap changer in transformer?

In off load tap changer the transformer will be in off
condition,it safe for equipment and personal safety,,

In on load tap changer the transforme will be in running
condition,there is no interruption of power supply,but
there is unsafe for windings.

Now a days 230kv are and above prefering only off load tap
changer,The tap changer provision will be held on HT side
only.
