yes it is compulsary because,
Testing doesnt gurantee a bug free product it will help to find and correct as many bugs as possible before product reaches the customer.Because of the bugs found through testing.
so the benefits are,
Enhance customer satisfaction
reduce maiteneace cost
Avoid critical errors like production server failures,data base corruption issuses which would cause the millkion of dollars in case they occur.
