what is use of shipping point in the sales order item category shipping tab. if remove the shipping point what will be happened?

As per my understanding, the shipping point also predicts
what kind of sales happens, for example, we have one
shipping point for standard sales, one for cash sales and
another for returns. If a shipping point is not determined,
then sales order processing cannot happen.
