What is the difference between equilibrium and steady-state?
Answer Posted / ghanshyam
At equilibrium, all chemical potential gradients are zero.
In a state of thermodynamic equilibrium, there are no net
flows of matter or of energy, no phase changes, and no
unbalanced potentials (or driving forces), within the system
a steady state is a situation in which all state variables
are constant in spite of ongoing processes that strive to
change them.
