why Flywheel is used (Need technical answer)? why generally
flywheel is big in shape?
Answer Posted / kapil
flywheel is used to store the energy and supply it when there is a variation in speed, like in IC engines where the 3 strokes other than power stroke are idle strokes...
energy stored in fly wheel is directly proportional to the moment of inertia i.e I=mk^2.
where m=mass of fly wheel.
k=radius of gyration(i.e radius of flywheel)
if k value is high, amount of energy stored vll be high, so obviously size of the flywheel vll be big.
