It is the innermost layer os the Cortex with a single row of
barrel shaped parenchymatoud cells.The radial and transverse
walls have lignosuberin bands called casparian thickenings.
The Cells opposite to the protoxylem are thin walled called
passage cells,helps in the entry of water.
