Differece between switch and Router is:-
1.Switch are layer 2 and 3 device but switch layer 3 device
does not support as router does,NATing and WIC configure is
not possible.This switch Layer 3 device help for inter VLAN
routing only.example-7600 switch is layer 3 device..
Router is L3 device.
2. Switch works on frame (MAC-Media Access Control).....
Router Works on Packet(IP-Internet Protocol)......
3. Switch segment collision domain(C.D)...
Router segment Broadcast Domain (B.D)...
4. Switch perform switching...
Router perform routing and switching....
5.Switch works on hardware asics(special chip call asics-
Application specific integrated circuit)...
Router works on software....
6. Switch used in LAN(Local Area Network)in small
organisation....
Router are used in WAN(Wide Area Network).....
