Mr. Wagle goes to work by a bus. One day
he falls asleep when the bus still has twice as far
to go as it has already gone. Halfway through the
trip he walks up as the bus bounces over some
bad potholes. When he finally falls asleep again,
the bus still has half the distance to go that it has
already traveled. Fortunately, Mr. Wagle wakes up
at the end of his trip. What portion of the total trip
did Mr. Wagle sleep?
a) 50% b) 25% c) 30% d) 75%

Answer Posted / deepesh kumar s

he fall asleep for the first time when the bus covered 33.3 %
ie, 1/3 of the total distance.

he slept till the half way, where the bus fall on potholes.
so the time he slept was the 50 - 33.3 = 16.7% of total journey.

When he sept again, the bus covered 2/3 of the total distance.
and slept for the rest of the journey. ie, 33.3 %;

so total portion he slept = 16.7 + 33.3 = 50%.
