It is Rs.7,200/-. The gross responsibility of an Assistant
in SBI is enormous. Especially in Cash Dealing. He is
fixed if he fails to detect a fake note. He is fixed if he
is made short of cash. There is no well defined work. One
day he has to do 200 transactions and other day he may be
doing only 25 transactions. Bank stipulates a minimum time
required to complete a transaction. That is from 3 to 20
minutues. Even if you consider 5 min for each transaction
on an average, in five hours time he will at the most can
do 60 transactions. But, the actual work load is 3 to 4
times on him. Cash dealing demands high alertness
throughout working hours. Even a single lapse resulting
out of lack of mental alertness can prove to very costly on
the employee. There are employees who have paid upto
Rs.50000 out of their pockets within one week of joining
the job. There is no proper training imparted to handle
such sensitive duties.
I think they deserve much more salary + a very high cash
risk allowance.
