Why the transformers are rated in kva?

Answer Posted / jignesh kadia

tr mer is a static device.it's transfer the power without
change in frequency.tr are not need to connect load so p.f
are not important in this case..
where in motor or gen the some load are connected. it's
depend upon the p.f..
so kw= kva * p.f
the losses:-
core loss:-hysterisis loss= bf, eddy current loss= b^2*f^2
iron loss:- i^2r
so core loss depends directly to supply voltage or iron loss
depends upon current..so tr rating in kva..
