I am fresher 2009 passedout.can you pls explain me what is
AS400 and where it can be used and how about growth in the
position as well as salary, whether it is a programming
language or else?

AS400 is a legacy machine like Mainframes. its a product of
IBM called as I-series. Programming languages used are
RPG,CL,cobol. it also supports java,fortran and many other
languages.DB2/400 is the database used. AS400 machines are
used in Banking,Insurance, Reservations etc.
When it comes to high volume of data and speed IBM
Mainframe replace AS400 machines.
AS400 is not much in demand. Most applications are getting
migrated from this technology. IBM has already stopped
support for I-Series platforms.
Atleast for the next 20 years i suppose I-series would
exist. Salary and growth are
same as other technologies, Anyways that depends on your
performance in the industry.
