Hi Nanda,
Earlier it was conventional type and had 8 papers
(1 pre + 7 main exams.)but now the pattern is completely
changed.
Do u know about the new pattern of CGL Exam???? The last
date to apply for this exam is 2th March, 2010.
Now CGL exam has 1 pre exam (including 50x4 = 200 questions
of General Awareness, Reasoning, Arithmatics and General
English).
Then 2 main papers of English and Arithmatics. These all r
objevtive type questions.

First of all u have to strong ur basic G.K. So, u can read
Lucent general knowledge (objective and one liner both
seperate), keep studying Pratiyogita Darpan of every month.
It will improve ur G.k.

Buy a book of objective Arithmatics(by R.S. Aggarwal)for
mathematics, Verbal and non verbal Reasoning (R.S.Aggarwal)
There is no specific book which may complete the part of
General English. So u have to take help of different books
for English.
