Why will a solution of aspirin without acid or basic
hydrolysis give yellow colour with a solution of Ferric
chloride?

Aspirin when dissolved in water with the help of heat will
be hydrolysed partially into salicylic acid and acetic
acid. Since salicylic acid consists of a phenolic group it
will give yellow colour with ferric chloride.
