What is Delivery group and what is its purpose?

Before creating the delivery or processing the delivery due
list the system only checks the delivery group .The delivery
group indicate that all the sub items should delivered
together.
Always the delivery group should assign to the item category
of the sub items,as a result system will conform the
delivery date according to the latest schedule lines.
It is required for the BOM process .
