One train leaves Los Angeles at 15mph heading for New York.
Another train leaves from New York at 20mph heading for Los
Angeles on the same track. If a bird, flying at 25mph,
leaves from Los Angeles at the same time as the train and
flies back and forth between the two trains until they
collide, how far will the bird have traveled?

Assuming the New York train leaves the same time as the Los
Angeles train and the bird, the answer is
5X/12 miles where X is the length of the track in miles.
Since work has to be shown:
[(x mi / 15 mph) - (x mi / 20mph)] = T hours, the amount of
time until the trains crash.
T hours * 25 mph = D miles, the distance the bird can
travel before the trains crash.
Combining the equations will give the answer.
Additionally, as the trains approach each other, the bird
will travel an infinite number of shorter and shorter trips
between the trains.
