(i)Soft Glass:-It is a mixture of sodium and calcium
silicates. It is easily fusible and it is used for making
glass tubes and common glass wares

(ii)Hard glass:-It is a mixture of potassium and calcium
silicates. It forms with difficulty. It important use is for
making hard glass apparatus. It is resistance to the action
of acid and water.

(iii)Bottle glass:-It is used in making bottles

(iv)Flint glass:-It is used in electric bulbs and optical
instruments. It is transparent clear, potash lead glass.

(v)Fena glass:-It is very resistant to heat. It is known to
be a mixture of zinc and barium borosilicates

(vi) Pyrex Glass:-It expands very little and therefore on
slight change of temperature it cracks at once

(vii)Ground glass:-It is soft glass with its surface
grounded by emery and turpentine

(viii)Safety glass It is used in automobile wind shields,
goggles etc.

(ix)Crook?s glass:-It is used for optical lenses. It
contains cerium oxide which have the property to cut the
ultraviolet rays harmful to eyes
