Modern Atomic Theory can be stated as follows:

(a)Atoms is no longer in indivisible particle . Atom is made
up of electrons, portions, and neutrons

(b)Atoms of same element may possess different atomic
weights e.g. Chlorine atoms with atomic wt.35 and 37. Such
atoms if the same element are known as Isotopes and at wt.
is an average relative weight if these isotopes

(c )In some cases, atoms of different elements possess same
atomic weight and different properties e.g. Argon and
calcium with atomic wt=40. These atoms are known as isobars
