Why is a vessel of water heats more quickly, when heat is
applied at the bottom than it is heated at the top?

Answer Posted / guest

When the bottom is heated, the particles of water get heated
up conduction, and they become lighter and rise up while the
heavier particles from the surface come down by the sides of
the vessel. In this way whole of the water is heated. On the
other and when it is heated at the top, lighter water, which
is hot, will remain there and the rest of the water will not
get heated up, as water is a bad conductor of heat.
