Why ate the mirage effects produced over hot deserts ?

Answer Posted / sanju

Over hot deserts, the air touching the surface of the earth
is the lightests, because it hot. When a ray from the top of
the tree travels downwards, i.e passes from a denser into
the rarer layers of air, it is bent away from the normal
more and more. Finally, the angles of incidence becomes
greater than the critical angel and the total reflection
takes place. Now on traveling upwards, the rays passes over
from rare to denser layer of air and ate bent more mad more
towards the normal .At last , the rays enter the eye of the
observer. To him it appears to come from some other point.
The whole of the tree appears this manner. When the
traveller see the image, he takes it to be die to reflection
in water, but on reaching there he finds no water.
