The different Wi-Fi generations include: 1) Wi-Fi 1 (802.11b) - introduced in 1999 with speeds up to 11 Mbps; 2) Wi-Fi 2 (802.11a) - introduced in 1999 with speeds up to 54 Mbps and operating on the 5GHz band; 3) Wi-Fi 3 (802.11g) - introduced in 2003, an extension of Wi-Fi 1 that operates on the 2.4GHz band and offers speeds up to 54 Mbps; 4) Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) - introduced in 2009 with speeds up to 600 Mbps through the use of multiple antennas and various data transmission techniques; 5) Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) - introduced in 2014, operates on the 5GHz band and offers speeds up to 3.46 Gbps; 6) Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) - introduced in 2019, builds upon Wi-Fi 5 with support for higher device density, improved performance, and better battery life.
