briefly describe immunoglobulin (ig) e.
Answer / Ritu Brijpal Saini
Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a type of antibody that mediates allergic reactions. When an allergen binds to IgE on the surface of mast cells or basophils, it triggers their degranulation, releasing inflammatory mediators that cause symptoms such as itching, swelling, and mucus production. Unlike other immunoglobulins, IgE contains an extra heavy chain called the epsilon chain.
