For a call between two phones registered on Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CME), the following steps occur:n1. Phone A lifts the handset, generating a Dial tone.n2. The user at Phone A dials the number of Phone B.n3. The dialed digits are sent to CME through the network switch.n4. CME searches its database for the corresponding number and finds the registration information for Phone B.n5. CME sends a call request to the SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) trunk associated with Phone B's registration.n6. The network switch forwards the call request to Phone B.n7. Phone B rings, indicating an incoming call.
