What are the various classes of IP addressing? Calculate the maximum number of class A, B and C network Ids.
Answer / Ravindera Kumar Dhar Dwidi
The three main classes of IP addressing are Class A, Class B, and Class C. Class A addresses range from 1 to 126 in the first octet, allowing for a maximum of 126 network IDs (0 being reserved). For Class B, addresses range from 128 to 191 with two high-order bits set to 1, providing a maximum of 16,384 network IDs. Lastly, Class C addresses are between 192 and 223, with the first three octets fixed, allowing for a maximum of 2,097,152 network IDs.
