What is the use of process id in OSPF?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Answer / rk
The process ID is the ID of the OSPF process to which the
interface belongs. The process ID is local to the router,
and two OSPF neighboring routers can have different OSPF
process IDs. Cisco IOS Software can run multiple OSPF
processes on the same router, and the process ID merely
distinguishes one process from the another. The process ID
should be a positive integer

Hi Friend,
The process ID is a number that is used to identify an OSPF
routing process on the router. Multiple OSPF processes can
be started on the same router. The number can be any value
between 1 and 65,535. Most network administrators keep the
same process ID throughout an autonomous system, but this is
not a requirement. It is rarely necessary to run more than
one OSPF process on a router.

Answer / pupytal
is very nice ID coz it can reduce the number of routers by
dividing the one router into multi process ID from ( 1-
-65535) and can never be zero , zero is reserved for
another thing, specially in the backbone router if you
divide it into many process id it could be wonderfull
