In case of a beam ,main steel is provided along the longer
span because, bending moment is directly proportional to
length but why in case of one way slab main steel is
provided along shorter span while as bending takes place
along longer span?comment
Answer Posted / c. mak
The primary load transfer direction will be in the shorter
span and as a result large negative bending moments will
occur at these supports. Therefore reinforcing steel is
required to cross these supports rather than the ones with
less load transfer, which occur in the supports with longer
span.
