Why we use 50Hz sine wave for AC?

Its not compulsory that u have to use 50hz, but in india
the frequency they are using for domestic , industry , etc
is of 50hz. In US its 60 hz. As freq increases loss
decreases but its very costly if u r switching from 50 hz
to 60 hz.
