what is the use of glycol filling in seal pot (or)
condensate pot in instrument impluse line?
Answer Posted / suresh
The main purpose of filling Glycol is
(1) to avoid depositing of liquid with high density from the process which causes erratic reading. Glycol is having a density of more than 1.1 and normally liquids with less than this value will never settle down in the impulse line, giving a constant head which is suppressed or elevated to zero during the calibration.
(2)To transmit signals from process to transmitter where high viscous or solidifying products at ambient temperature is to be measured.Steam tracing can be avoided.
