The widespread use of chlorine as a biocide has led to the
widespread use of onsite chlorine generators, or electrochlorinators on offshore installations. The units generate chlorine from sea water by passing a DC current through cells. By products are hydrogen and hypochlorite solution both of which must be handled with care.
