Moment is the rotational effect of any physical quantity. It may be area, inertia or even a force. It is equal to the physical quantity multiplied by the radial distance or the moment arm.

Moment when taken specifically in the case of a Force is moment .It is basically the rotating effect of the force. When the force acts at a certain distance from the pivot point perpendicular to the radial arm, is termed as torque.
