among fine, coarse sand which is used for plaster, brickwork
and RCC & why?
Answer Posted / surajitg
Above answer is partly correct. We use coarse sand for better strength and to reduce cement consumption. First of all we have to know why we use sand. Sand is used as a filler material of concrete. It is part of aggregate that's why it is called fine aggregate. If we use fine sand then no of sand particles will be more and overall surface area of sand will be quite high than when we are using coarse sand. When the surface area of sand is high, then to cover the surface with boding agent (i.e. cement gel) will be high.
